Mexico launched two anti-dumping investigations on Chinese aluminum bar profiles

The Mexican Ministry of Economy issued two announcements on March 5, 2025 local time, respectively, launching anti-dumping investigations on hollow profiled profiles originating in China (this case also accuses related products originating in the United States) and aluminum bar profiles originating in China. The products investigated in the two cases involved hollow profile (Mexico tax number 7604.21.01), aluminum bar profile (Mexico tax number 7604.10.02, 7604.10.99, 7604.29.01, 7604.29.02 and 7604.29.99), Technical standards comply with ASTM B221-21 (extrusion standard) and DIN 17611 (anodizing standard). The damage survey period is from July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024, and the damage analysis period is from July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2024. The interested party has 23 working days to file a defence (calculated 5 days after the date of notification).

According to Chinese customs data, in 2024, China exported to Mexico a total of 44,000 tons of products involved in the two cases, with an export value of 156.61 million US dollars, accounting for 4.0% and 4.1% of China's total exports of the same products and total exports, respectively.
