Start-up of casting line at Hydro's Rackwitz aluminum recycling plant
September 21, 2023
According to Hydro's official website, the launch ceremony of the new HyForge casting line at Hydro's aluminum recycling plant in Rackwitz, Germany, was held on September 14. The $40 million project is designed to respond to the decarbonization of the automotive industry. The new production line will significantly increase the recycling of post-consumer aluminum waste.
On September 14, Hydro held a ceremony to launch the new production line, marking the end of a 14-month construction period and the debut of Hydro's innovative HyForge forgings at the Rackwitz plant. The line will provide customers with aluminium billets with smaller diameters and more optimised surfaces that can be forged directly into high-quality automotive parts and other products, skipping additional process stages such as extrusion or homogenisation.
