The China Non-Ferrous Metals Industry Association resolutely safeguards the legitimate rights and interests of exports to Canada
September 27, 2024
China's Ministry of Commerce has decided to launch an anti-discrimination investigation into Canada's relevant measures under investigation from September 26, 2024. China Non-Ferrous Metals Industry Association firmly supports the Ministry of Commerce of China in its efforts to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises under the framework of the Foreign Trade Law of the People's Republic of China. Canada's additional 25% tariff on some Chinese aluminum products is a unilateral and discriminatory trade restriction measure that seriously violates WTO rules.
We insist that the development of China's aluminum industry is entirely based on its own comparative advantages, and is the inevitable result of accelerating the development of new quality productivity, transparency and open competition; The trade and cooperation between China and Canada in the aluminum industry fully benefits from the development needs of upstream and downstream enterprises in the industrial chain of the two countries, and is fully based on the principle of full and fair marketization. China's exports of aluminum products to Canada not only did not cause damage to Canada, but were welcomed by downstream customers and users of Canada.
We call on Chinese enterprises in the aluminum industry to attach great importance to, actively express fair and impartial comments on issues related to the filing and investigation procedures, and safeguard their legitimate interests through legal channels.
