The LME plans to require aluminium deliveries to submit carbon emissions data
May 9, 2024
The London Metal Exchange (LME) has launched a consultation on a proposal to integrate the requirements of the European Union's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) with LME market rules, requiring all aluminium delivery brands (including primary aluminium and aluminium alloys) to provide verified product carbon emissions data from March 2025. The relevant carbon emissions data will be uploaded and stored on the LMEpassport platform. This will help the relevant data flow fully in the industrial value chain and facilitate market participants' access to product information.
