Yuefeng Aluminum has successfully developed a key technology for preparing aluminum alloys used in automotive lightweighting
April 25, 2025
On April 18th, the scientific and technological achievement evaluation meeting of "Key Technologies and Applications for the Preparation of High-Strength, High-Toughness and Anti-fatigue Aluminum Alloys for Automotive Lightweighting", jointly developed and researched by Soochow University, Shandong Yuefeng New Materials Co., LTD., Yuefeng (Suzhou) Lightweight Research Institute Co., Ltd. and others, was held in Beijing.
The evaluation meeting was organized by the Society of Automotive Engineers of China. At the meeting, the director of Yuefeng (Suzhou) Lightweight Research Institute made a project report to the expert group from aspects such as the development background, development content, application situation and economic and social benefits. The expert group, through listening to the report, meeting review, questioning and discussion, etc., finally reached the review conclusion that the overall technology of the project has reached the international leading level.
The project "Key Technologies and Applications for the Preparation of High-Strength, High-Toughness and Fatigue-Resistant Aluminum Alloys for Automotive Lightweighting" is highly technically challenging and innovative, with abundant achievements in independent intellectual property rights. Two independent alloy grades (6D10 and 356Y.1) have been registered. The project achievements have been industrialized and applied in key automotive components such as the all-aluminum body frame structure, chassis frame, front longitudinal beam, and rear longitudinal beam, generating significant economic and social benefits.
The director of the Expert Committee of the Automotive Lightweighting Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance, a professor from Jilin University, serves as the group leader of the expert group. He is also the vice president of the Society of Automotive Engineers of China, a professor from Tsinghua University, the executive deputy director of the Expert Committee of the Automotive Lightweighting Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance, a professor from University of Science and Technology Beijing, and the chief engineer of materials and lightweighting at Beijing Automotive Research Institute Co., LTD. The evaluation expert group was composed of the former chief engineer of materials and processes of Dongfeng Motor Corporation and the senior director of materials technology of Beijing Li Auto Co., Ltd. from Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle Technology Center. The deputy general manager of Guoqi Lightweighting (Jiangsu) Automotive Technology Co., Ltd. and relevant personnel of the project team attended the meeting.
