Recently, the 6xxx series aluminum alloy plate for the inner plate of the engine cover, which is independently developed by Yuefeng Aluminum Materials Institute and conducive to pedestrian protection and easy circulation, has officially passed the audit of the National Non-ferrous Metal Standardization Technical Committee and registered as 6B05 alloy brand. This is the first independent brand of automotive aluminum plate in China, marking another important breakthrough in the field of automotive aluminum alloy new materials, highlighting the strong vitality and continuous innovation ability of Yuefeng Aluminum Materials Institute in expanding the application of aluminum alloy.
The national standard "Automobile collision protection for pedestrians" (GB 24550-2024) was officially implemented on January 1, 2025, and the automobile pedestrian protection performance has been transformed from a recommended standard to a mandatory standard, aiming to further improve the level of road traffic safety, and also put forward higher requirements for the automobile aluminum pedestrian protection performance. 6B05 alloy has a low strain rate sensitivity coefficient, so it has better pedestrian protection performance. In addition, its alloy composition and the engine cover outer plate belong to the same 6 series alloy series, which is easy to recycle. The material is expected to gradually replace the traditional 5182 alloy, more widely used in automotive engine cover inner plate, to provide a strong material support for automobile pedestrian protection, has been in a car company to achieve mass supply.
